Zebrafish Centre for Advanced Drug Discovery (ZCADD) of Canada is home to the first automated high-throughput zebrafish drug screening platform in Toronto and one of the most advanced zebrfish screening facilities worldwide. Dr. Xiao-Yan Wen, a former Associate Professor at University of Toronto, is the founder and director of the Centre. ZCADD developed over 20 zebrafish disease models, performed high-throughput chemical genetic screens, and developed small molecule drug candidates targeting a number of devastating human diseases including hemorrhagic stroke, severe sepsis, ALS and cancer. Some of these technologies have been licensed to industry partners for commercialization. Over the years, ZCADD has provided technical services to large pharmaceutical companies including Eli Lilly and Johnson & Johnson, and became a leader in zebrafish-based drug discovery. Since 2013, the center has launched and hosted the biennial Zebrafish for Personalized and Precision Medicine Conference (ZPPM), which has had a profound impact on the industry.
